SBTRCT Daily Body Cleanse

The first body product in its award-winning range, SBTRCT’s Daily Body Cleanse is a no-soap formula that cleanses, moisturises, and hydrates your body, with a unique and aromatic blend of essential oils, inspired by the Japanese ritual of forest bathing.

SBTRCT (pronounced “Subtract”), pioneers of concentrated, plastic-free skincare better for performance and planet, today announce the launch of the first body product in their award-winning range. On sale from 25 March 2024, the coconut and rosehip seed oil based Daily Body Cleanse product (RRP: £14; available online at sbtrct.co.uk) lathers into a rich, moisturising foam that effectively washes away the day, leaving skin feeling soft and supple.

A relaxing and spiritual fragrance experience, this no-soap formula moisturises and hydrates, with a unique blend of essential oils inspired by the Japanese ritual of forest bathing – a true forest aroma with top notes of pine needles, warmed by a heart of frankincense and labdanum, settled on a base of smooth cedar wood, balsam and patchouli.

Research shows that forest bathing has a mind healing effect, with countries such as Japan prescribing it to treat depression and anxiety,” says SBTRCT’s founder Ben Grace, who is also part of the Sustainable Beauty Coalition’s Advisory Committee. “This is partly down to the unique scent of the forest which, among its many benefits, has been shown to decrease stress hormones and supports the immune system. Studies have shown that even without a trip to the forest, the fragrance of tree essential oils can have similar psychological effects. We know that mind and skin health are closely connected, and it’s this synergy that has inspired our new Daily Body Cleanse.”

SBTRCT is a concentrated, plastic-free skincare brand, full of natural ingredients, widely celebrated for its waterless products. While many traditional skincare formulations contain up to 80% water, SBTRCT’s solid format allows the products to be filled with up to 99% of skin-loving ingredients, intensifying their effectiveness and lasting twice as long as traditional plastic packaged liquid alternatives. The SBTRCT range is also palm oil-free, B Corp certified, vegan and cruelty-free, with all claims evidenced and validated with innovative sustainability software supplied by Provenance.

Ben added: “Sustainability drivers have meant that concentrated, waterless skincare has been cited as a key trend for 2024/25 (Mintel, 2023 / Cult Beauty Oracle), but this has always been at the heart of SBTRCT’s proposition, delivering potent and undiluted products that are also sustainable. The beauty industry contributes 30% to the world’s plastic pollution, so it’s imperative that we stop producing and buying plastic-packaged products, particularly when up to 80% of the product is comprised of water and when there are quality alternatives available that are proven to deliver.”

SBTRCT Dermatologist Dr Antonia D’Cruz added: “The effect of stress on our skin should not be underestimated. Products like SBTRCT’s Daily Body Cleanse can play a small part in helping to enhance the way we feel through a calming sensory experience such as scent, as well as nourishing our skin with enriching ingredients.”

SBTRCT’s efficacious range includes a solid Cleanser, Moisturising Balm, Exfoliator, MakeUp Melt, Vitamin C and Retinoid, which are also available in major retailers including John Lewis and Harrods. Each product is available individually, or as part of a ‘Starter Set’ comprising a pot or dish for storage, designed to be refilled and re-used. A branded self-draining ceramic dish has been thoughtfully designed as the perfect home for the Daily Body Cleanse, keeping the bar in best condition throughout its use. (Starter Kit RRP. £22).
