Close Contact Coronavirus Government Guidelines Become Legal Obligation In England

The coronavirus infection rate has gone up to 3,529 cases per day, with the Prime Minister announcing today in the House of Commons that they expect this to double within the next 7-20 days.

To combat this, the government has announced that in retail, leisure and tourism and other sectors, Covid-secure guidelines will become legal obligations. The Prime Minister in his announcement said:

“In retail, leisure and tourism and other sectors, our Covid-secure guidelines will become legal obligations.”

The effects of failing to follow the government guidelines now that they have become legal obligation has not as of yet been explained, however, it is expected that business may face fines and closures.

Other than this, the £10,000 fine for individuals failing to self-isolate has now been extended to businesses and the first offence for failing to wear a mask has doubled to £200.
