Metaverse Beauty Week (MBW2023) is set to take the beauty world by storm as the first-ever festival of its kind, bringing together virtual and physical experiences for beauty enthusiasts worldwide. From June 12th to 17th, 2023, MBW2023 will unfold across popular virtual platforms like Decentraland, Spatial, and Roblox, as well as in the heart of London at the renowned Flannels flagship store on Oxford Street. This groundbreaking event promises to captivate the senses and inspire beauty lovers through carefully curated programs and a star-studded lineup.

The festival's headline moments will feature renowned AR makeup artist and former GLOW UP judge, Paige Piskin. Paige, hailed as the "Legend of the Metaverse" by VICE, will host a series of events throughout the week, culminating in an exciting in-person gathering at FLANNELS X. Joining her will be the esteemed beauty AR artist, Inés Alpha, who has been at the forefront of subversive beauty looks from her base in Paris. Additionally, Joy Fennell, the founder of THE FUTURE IN BLACK and an AI and IRL makeup artist, will host multiple events to engage and inspire attendees. Cassandra Bankson, the popular Acne Skinfluencer and YouTube star, will also share her metaverse journey, including a special virtual drop for her fans.

To ensure a diverse and accessible experience for all participants, MBW2023 has expanded its program to include a variety of platforms and formats. The festival kicks off with web3 futurist Sasha Wallinger leading tours in each virtual space, providing an immersive introduction to the festival's theme of "Reality Gets A Makeover." Subsequent days will focus on specific themes and activities, accompanied by informative web2 content, including educational videos that guide attendees through the festival's offerings.

Each day of MBW2023 holds its unique highlights and engaging experiences. Day two, aptly named "Limitless Beauty," offers Glossybox's virtual journey in Decentraland, where visitors can collect Glossyboxes for a chance to win real-life beauty product boxes. Neutrogena invites participants to explore the skin's vital aspects through five gamified experiences in Decentraland. Indie luxury brand Valdé Beauty transforms avatars into armored Valdé warriors with their lip collection, and wellness app Clementine hosts a special "meta-tation" experience to reduce stress and enhance relaxation.

I Am Proud (Skin Proud, Hair Proud and Body Proud) are also taking part by hosting an interactive space on Spatial and Decentraland everyday during Metaverse Beauty Week where visitors can collect exclusive wearables inspired by Skin Proud, Hair Proud and Body Proud’s best selling products.  Visitors will be greeted in the main plaza by the brands mascot, a rubber duck named Sami, who will lead the avatars out to the I Am Proud pool area. Attendees and potential customers can swim out to the larger-than-life floating Sami’s in the I Am Proud pool to amplify their avatars with exclusive wearables through a gamified experience, engaging with the brand in a fun and memorable way.

Day three of the festival, "Redefining Beauty," sees LUSH creating immersive moments in Decentraland and Spatial, while FLANNELS Beauty showcases this season's beauty looks as wearables, along with live masterclasses by renowned hair stylist Larry King. Creative Collective Immersive Kind explores the future of beauty through a captivating hair and beauty showcase in Spatial, while visitors can dive into the rich history of nail art with CK Bubbles' web3 wearables. Cassandra Bankson continues to share her metaverse journey with fans, providing exclusive insights.

"Infinite Playfulness" takes center stage on day four as visitors to MBW2023 in Roblox can explore and play the festival's brand-new game, BeautyBlox, to win limited edition wearables. Climate-neutral beauty brand Essence launches its first-ever Roblox game, "Colour Dare," where players' points directly translate into charity donations for Pride Month. Maria Martinez offers a live how-to masterclass on creating web3 mini-games, and Lottie London turns their popular TikTok best-sellers into the Lottie Lotterie for MBW.

Day five, "Subverting Beauty Norms," brings together virtual and physical events across multiple spaces. FLANNELS X opens its doors to press and consumers, hosting a unique fusion of in-person and virtual experiences. Inés Alpha delivers a virtual keynote on subversive beauty norms, followed by a panel discussion with participating brands exploring the shift from traditional retail to the metaverse. Paige Piskin shares her journey as an AR creator and viral sensation, while LUSH wraps up the virtual portion of the week with Rave Wrap Parties in both Decentraland and Spatial.

The final day of MBW2023, "Reinventing Retail," takes the experience to Flannels flagship store, FLANNELS X, offering consumers a day filled with immersive beauty AR showcases from renowned brands like MUGLER, Jean Paul Gautier, Clarins, Prada, and more. Creative works from virtual model NYA, The Fabricant, Immersive Kind, THE FUTURE IN BLACK, Inés Alpha, and Paige Piskin will also be showcased, adding a touch of technological marvel to the retail environment.
