Guidance on Brand Identity for Salon Owners
If you’re launching a new business or just need a little guidance, here at morandi designs, we’ve compiled 4 industry insights to help you make the most out of your branding.
1. Colour
One of the very first things a person notices when looking at a product or a website… colour.
Colour Psychology is a hugely important part of branding, therefore knowing what you want your audience to feel, will determine what colour(s) you will be using in your brand identity. Get to know your brand colour palette and how to use it. Which are you Primary Colours, Secondary Colours and Accent Colours?
Industry Insight: Make sure you are precise about the exact tone, take the HEX colour code which would be something like #847F62 = Sage Green and use this tone throughout all of your branding. There are thousands of Sage Gren tones, be consistent by using the same tone!

2. Fonts
Similarly with colours, fonts also have the power to make us feel something.
If your brand is: Modern, Cool, Confident, Direct, Informative - consider using a Sans Serif Font.
If your brand is: Classic, Timeless, Passionate, Expressive, Inspiring - consider using a Serif Font.
If your brand is: Whimsical, Quirky, Artsy, Playful, Personable, Joyful, Wild - consider using a Script Font.
Choose a font, or combination of fonts which firstly fit the overall feeling of your brand, and secondly fit well with one another. A combination of all 3 styles can be used, but be mindful of the hierarchy of the fonts you are using.

3. Images
Choose images and/or videos which reflect your brand’s feelings, personality and values. Photography makes a huge impact to a brand, however if you are not ready to invest in a professional shoot (which is a big investment!), please just hold off the iPhone pics for a moment. There are many sources for free photos and video out there to elevate your brand and here are some of my favourites.

4. Logos
Notice how I use ‘Logos’ and not simply ‘Logo’. One single logo is not sufficient for your business, and the majority of familiar brands out there have multiple logo variations, it may just go unnoticed.
The logo which you have on your shop front may not fit into your IG profile picture, therefore having variations is key. Get familiar with your logos and where you can use them in your business. Each variation has it’s own special job in your brand identity, using them correctly and consistently will lead to a more successful brand!
