MAC Cosmetics Commits £1 Million to Charity in Celebration of VIVA GLAM’s 30th Anniversary

MAC Cosmetics has announced a remarkable £1 million donation to various charities in the UK and Ireland. This generous pledge comes as the iconic VIVA GLAM campaign celebrates its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of impactful contributions to HIV/AIDS awareness and support.

The VIVA GLAM initiative, established in 1994, was a response to the devastating impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, particularly within fashion communities and beyond. Over the years, the campaign has raised over $5.2 million globally, with a significant £25+ million contribution in the UK and Ireland alone.

MAC’s current commitment, set to be fulfilled in 2024, will benefit a variety of charity partners, each playing a pivotal role in addressing issues related to HIV/AIDS, gender, racial equality, and environmental concerns. These partners include Positive East, Waverley Care, National Aids Trust, Micro Rainbow, Mermaids, Terrence Higgins Trust, George House Trust, Race Equality Foundation, and The Climate Coalition.

Dominic Skinner, MAC’s Director of Makeup Artistry and Patron of VIVA GLAM charity Positive East, expresses pride in the brand's commitment to "putting their money where their mouth is”. This ethos is exemplified in the unique approach of the VIVA GLAM campaign: for every £22 VIVA GLAM lipstick sold, MAC donates the full amount (less VAT in the UK) to its charity partners. This transparent and direct method of giving back underscores the brand’s dedication to making a real difference.

This latest pledge of £1 million reaffirms the brand's unwavering commitment to community support and social responsibility, setting a laudable example for others to follow. The impact of this contribution will undoubtedly resonate across various communities, furthering the fight against HIV/AIDS and championing causes of sexual, gender, racial, and environmental equality.
