Tortoiseshell Prints
Animal prints are always in but this year sees a big come back for tortoiseshell nails. Big in the Miu Miu A/W 23 collection, tortoiseshell prints are a chic touch and are easy to create using a burnt yellow base layered with dark orange, brown and black to add to the dimensional effect.
“Brown hues are the epitome of autumn elegance” shares Juanita Huber-Millet, Founder and Creative Director at Townhouse “Think warm, chocolatey browns, or shades reminiscent of warm lattes or autumn leaves! They complement the season's cosy vibes and work beautifully for day and night looks, making it a very versatile choice”.
Leafy Nails
As nature dons its autumnal mantle, our nails are drawing inspiration straight from the enchanting tapestry of fallen leaves. A re-occuring trend, leaf-printed nails are making a statement, mirroring the vibrant hues and intricate patterns of maple, oak, and elm. From delicate, fern-like imprints to bold, abstract interpretations of deciduous designs, the leaf motif becomes a canvas of creativity.
Wine Red
“Reds are a timeless choice for autumn. This season, I'd recommend exploring deeper hues like burgundy or wine red. They are super sophisticated and pair wonderfully with autumn fashion. I think a red mani can add a touch of drama to your look, making it ideal for those special occasions or just to feel a little extra fabulous!” comments Juanita.
Echoing the richness of a vintage Bordeaux or the depth of a Merlot, this shade captures the very essence of autumn and winter’s refined sophistication. Beyond just a color, it's a mood—a sultry invitation to evenings spent by candlelight or gatherings wrapped in velvety warmth.
Aura Nails
Aura nails are setting the manicure scene ablaze this season. Drawing inspiration from the captivating allure of mood rings, these nails come alive with radial ombré effects reminiscent of ever-changing emotions. Utilizing an airbrush gun, artists achieve a flawless transition that dances between shades, giving nails a dynamic, ethereal glow. Delving into the rich palette of autumn and winter, hues like dark purples, decadent chocolate browns, and sumptuous reds are the go-to shades.
Espresso Swirls
Sticking with brown hues, this one is giving hot drinks on a cold morning. This look is created using a marble effect and no more than three shades - one cream and two browns to create the rich contrast. The design ensures that every nail and nail set is charmingly unique.
Darker Chromes
The allure of chrome isn't fading anytime soon, especially as we venture into the shades of autumn and winter. This season, the chrome trend delves into the deeper, duskier end of the spectrum, exuding an enigmatic charm. We're witnessing the meteoric rise of lustrous darker chromes – think tantalizing tones of brown, opulent golds, and the enigmatic allure of black. The previously pristine and polished chrome is now evolving, embracing an edgier, more rugged vibe.
French Manicures
The timeless elegance of the French manicure is receiving a modern-day revamp this season. You can upgrade your nail art with sultry browns, mysterious blacks, and shimmering chromes, all of which are giving the iconic French tip a fierce facelift. But the customization doesn't stop at color alone. Clients are sticking with white and adding in personal touches like tiny jewels, intricate patterns, or subtle gradients are emerging, allowing individuality to shine.
“Classic French tips against a neutral or sheer base never go out of style and are always a safe choice for a beautiful mani. A trend I’m loving at the moment is adding an initial to make it personal. This look goes with everything and exudes timeless elegance, making it a perfect choice for any season or occasion” shares Juanita on the seasonal shift.
Latte Nails
Riding the wave of the latte makeup phenomenon that's taken TikTok by storm, latte nails are poised to be this season's sought-after manicure trend. This creamy, inviting hue perfectly bridges the gap between the golden tones of sun-drenched summer and the cozy embrace of winter. It's a delightful blend of warmth and sophistication, echoing the familiarity of your favorite coffeehouse beverage.
