How do you feel about auburn hair for autumn?
Auburn hair for Autumn is a classic look and we love to see it return year after year, however we’ve seen a noticeable surge in salon requests recently, thanks to the popularity of the copper colour trend. There are so many different ways to do auburn hair, from an all over colour to a more subtle auburn balayage, so it’s a look you can really make your own!
But what if you already have naturally auburn hair? Can you Balayage it? If so, how?
Absolutely, you can balayage any colour hair, and balayage is created on naturally auburn hair with the same technique used for blondes and brunettes. The look is achieved by freehand painting bleach onto the mid-lengths and ends of the hair to create a dimensional finish, then colouring with a toner to achieve the desired shade.
How long does balayage last on auburn hair?
Balayage is known for being low maintenance, and you don’t tend to need a refresh for 6 months. You might need to revisit the salon for a toner refresh after 6-8 weeks, depending on how often you wash your hair and what colour you opt for. Red or pastel shades tend to fade a lot faster than others, so you’re likely to need to top up every 6 weeks.
Is auburn hair high maintenance?
Auburn colour or balayage can be more high maintenance than other colours, as red can fade quickly, however this can be prevented by washing the hair less or introducing regular copper-toned hair masks to keep the colour fresh such as the Moroccanoil Copper Colour Depositing Mask. It will not only let you experience the most on-trend shades but will also give your hair some much-needed TLC throughout the colder autumn months.
Would you classify auburn hair as red, or brown?
We put auburn hair on the red spectrum, as it takes a lot of warm shades and red tones to create.
What skin tone looks best with auburn hair?
Auburn hair looks good on a variety of skin tones. It looks most natural on fair, cool toned skin, but the shade can be adjusted to look stunning on any complexion.
