The Types of Permanent Make Up
Permanent Makeup is a trend of the 21st century. But what is it and why it has become so famous all over the world?
Permanent Makeup is an aesthetic method to implant pigment into the top layer of the dermis. Micropigmentation is subdivided into a manual technique when the pigment is implanted using a disposable hand tool and the mechanical technique where the machine is used to implant the pigment with different needle configuration. Every treatment uses sterile tools and needles which makes the treatment absolutely safe. The quality of the permanent makeup treatment is heavily dependent on the equipment used, technology and pigment – this will determine how many times it will be necessary to repeat the application, how long the pigment will last, how evenly and completely over time it will fade from the skin, how strong the pain is, how long the treatment takes, how quickly the skin heals etc. The method and quality of the treatment, therefore, also determines how problematic a repeat treatment will be in the future. New trends of permanent makeup are aimed at avoiding long-term techniques. The specialist should think about how their work will look after a few years. The ideal colour stability time in the skin is 1.5-2 years, in this case, it is very easy to correct the shape depending on the inevitable temporary anatomical changes of the client.
What is Better?
Many people ask which method is better: manual or mechanical. It depends on the expected effect and also on the client's skin. Ideally, the master must possess both methods. Microblading allows very thin and fine strokes, but one should be aware that microblading isn’t for everyone – anyone with oily skin should be advised against Microblading.
In my work, I prefer the mechanical method because it gives a much more feasibility. In my opinion, shading techniques are better created with a machine, since the progress is faster than manual shading, and therefore with a machine, you can create very soft shading with colour gradation for eyebrows, eyelids and lips. The treatment time with the mechanical method can be lessened dramatically – like the treatment time for Powder Eyebrows can take around half an hour, which is both good for the therapist and the client.
Individuality or Perfect Shape?
A popular question is, how to achieve the perfect shape for the customer. Perfect shape is the shape in harmony with the client’s anatomy, as well as their image as a whole, it could depend on their work, lifestyle and inner world perception.
I definitely choose an individual approach to every client. Everyone knows the generally accepted rules for the proportions of the face and we follow these when drawing the initial sketch. When drawing the sketch, I always recommend avoiding using templates, the shape of the face must be considered above all, because it’s important that the new shape is in harmony with the mimics of the patient’s face. It’s very important, therefore, for the client and the permanent makeup artist to understand each other in relation to these aspects because this is the most important aspect to a high-quality result.
Microblading
Eyebrow micropigmentation; called microblading is one of the most popular micropigmentation treatments currently available.
Microblading can be performed either manually or as a machine method.
Eyebrows are the most visible part of the face, after all, it is your eyebrows that allow you to silently express different emotions. Beautiful eyebrows are invaluable in the overall attractiveness of a person. The proportionality of facial features heavily depends on the arch of the eyebrows.
Beautiful eyebrows should be symmetrical, expressive and have strict outlines, and most importantly, uniform growth of hairs. The colour of the eyebrows should be harmonious with the face and hair. Microblading will help you achieve all of these qualities without any pencils and other cosmetics. There are various techniques of microblading, my favourite technique is the combination of hairstroke with shading. This technique makes it possible to achieve the most realistic result: by drawing of the hairstroke we make the eyebrows reconstruction (drawing the “missing” eyebrows hairs), and the shading adds volume and saturation.
Lip Micropigmentation
As with eyebrows, lip micropigmentation can be made manually but for the lips, we prefer mechanical method.
It is believed that the ideal lips should not only be symmetrical, but also expressive and proportional. But not all people have such lips, often there are slight disproportions, for example, too thin lips, flat lips etc. In this case, permanent makeup on the lips allows them to be perfected and the best qualities to be highlighted. Micropigmentation allows you to get a beautiful lip contour so that they become more vivid and noticeable. For clients who want a very natural result, we make lips with no contour, and the pigment colour should be maximally natural. Fordyce spots are commonly camouflaged with the use of lip micropigmentation. This procedure is in demand both among women and among men.
Eyelid Micropigmentation
Perfect eyes are seen to have a horizontal, almond shape with a thick, fluffy eyelash line, which also emphasizes the shape of the eye and creates a slight shadow on the upper eyelid. Eyelid micropigmentation allows you to emphasize their expressiveness, refresh your eyes and make them memorable for a long time. Eyes are the mirror of the soul but even a mirror needs a beautiful frame.
Permanent makeup on the eyelids have a lot of variations: from lash line to classic cat eyeliner and full eyeshadows effect with different colours. Now in trend everything soft and natural so in this case, soft eyeliner/eyeliner with shading/eyeshadows is one of the most common treatments.
What more?
The modern possibilities of micropigmentation are unlimited. It unites aesthetics and medicine. A combination of techniques and methods allows you to achieve any effect. It’s not only an effect of longterm makeup of eyebrows, lips, eyelids; correction of the lips shape and color; it’s also paramedical micropigmentation as a camouflage from burns, reconstructive, methods, plastic and other operations; camouflage vitiligo (white patches on the skin without own pigment), alopecia (hair loss), reconstruction of areola for women after mastectomy. This makes permanent makeup essential and invaluable for some women.
Permanent Makeup is at the moment the best-selling treatment among all beauty services because of its wide possibilities – and it constantly develops.
With constantly developing technology and equipment, micropigmentation treatments are safe, fast and absolutely painless. It should be noted that over time the pigment fades, so top ups are required and in time, the treatment can be updated, and the shape changed.
Permanent makeup is an alternative to normal makeup for those who suffer from allergies to cosmetics, as well as for people with sensitive skin. This is an opportunity to look perfect 24 hours a day, as well as saving time in the modern rhythm of life.
