Why the Josh Wood Colour Salon Accusations Should Remind us to Not Jump To Conclusions

Earlier this month, Priyanka Chopra was seen attending the Josh Wood Colour salon in Notting Hill. False reporting of the event have led to the accusations that Priyanka Chopra and Josh Wood Colour Salon were breaking lockdown rules by allowing celebrities to attend the hairdresser.

Josh Wood Colour has shared a statement on their instagram over the matter, highlighting that they have absolute respect for government regulations and have worked incredibly hard throughout the last 10 months to ensure that they are compliant and go beyond and above to ensure the safety of their employees and clients. In the statement, they have said;

“Following government guidelines, Priyanka’s hair was coloured for the purpose of the film she is currently shooting in London. The salon was opened privately and everyone involved had been tested and followed both the Department for the Digital, Culture, Media & Sport guidelines, as well as film production regulations. The paperwork legally permitting Priyanka and Josh to be there was provided to the authorities who were satisfied by it”.

A representative of the Hollywood star has also confirmed Priyanka’s hair was being coloured for a film she is shooting in London. Chopra is currently filming romantic drama Text For You, based on a novel by German author Sofie Cramer, where she stars alongside Celine Dion and Outlander actor Sam Heughan.

While police attended the salon, a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said: “No fixed penalty notices were issued.”

The cancel culture that has surfaced in recent years has lead the public to be ready to jump to conclusions, but placing judgement without knowing the full story can have a very real and profound effect on real people and businesses. With businesses, especially the beauty industry, already challenged beyond measure during the pandemic, this should be our reminder to be kind - let’s support each other, instead of tearing each other down.
