HigherDose: The Wellness Brand That Really Cares About Your Future
Embracing the future of wellness with a blend of technology and holistic health, HigherDose has emerged as a frontrunner in the beauty industry. Co-founder Lauren Berlingeri, a visionary in marrying cutting-edge tech with traditional wellness philosophies, sits down with us to discuss the brand's innovative approach. From their exciting launch at Sephora UK to the integral role of biohacking in their products, Lauren sheds light on how HigherDose is redefining beauty from the inside out.
Congratulations on HigherDOSE's launch at Sephora UK. How does this partnership influence your brand's presence in the UK market?
Lauren Berlingeri: Sephora enhances our accessibility significantly. It connects us with numerous new customers who may not be familiar with infrared light therapy and PEMF technology. This partnership is pivotal for us, as it aids in mainstreaming these innovative healing technologies. Sephora's involvement is exhilarating; it signifies a shift in beauty trends towards technologies and philosophies that promote internal health, which we staunchly believe in. Our focus on internal vitality is the key to achieving optimal skin and energy. This collaboration will not only help us spearhead a new beauty paradigm but also make wellness technologies widely available.
Are any products available in-store?
We're discussing in-store options with Sephora, but nothing is confirmed yet. This partnership is prompting us to consider smaller, more affordable wellness technologies suitable for retail shelves. Our larger items, like sauna blankets, will be online exclusives due to their size.
Have you noticed any differences in product preferences between UK customers and other markets?
UK customers seem to embrace the same wellness technologies as in the U.S. The UK particularly benefits from our technologies, like red light and PEMF, which emulate nature's healing powers.
Our technology goes beyond skin and beauty benefits; it's fundamentally about enhancing how you feel. This concept is integral to our brand, HigherDOSE, where 'DOSE' stands for dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins - the key chemicals associated with happiness. We prioritize the immediate, tangible impact of our products on well-being.
The effectiveness of our wellness technology is not only backed by science and research but also by the noticeable difference it makes in users' lives. Whether it's the deep detoxifying experience of our sauna blanket or the calming effect of sitting on our mat, the impact is palpable. Our red light face mask is another example; it not only improves skin appearance but also promotes a sense of calm and connection, balancing the circadian rhythm for better sleep. These benefits underscore our commitment to enhancing overall well-being, not just external appearance.
HigherDOSE is known for incorporating biohacking into its products. How is biohacking transforming the beauty and wellness industry?
Biohacking is a rich source of product and technology ideas. It's more than just wellness; it's about optimization and longevity. This approach brings effective technologies to beauty, creating visible and cumulative improvements. We believe biohacking pioneers a shift from mere wellness to a focus on overall optimization.
How does HigherDOSE cater to its predominantly female customer base, given the male dominance in biohacking?
We believe women are the original biohackers, intuitively knowing what's best for their health. Our approach is to provide gentle yet effective technologies suitable for everyone. We focus on reducing cortisol levels and fostering a parasympathetic state for healing. This philosophy underpins our product development, ensuring they're beneficial for women throughout their monthly cycles.
What does your daily wellness routine look like, Lauren?
My routine varies every day, especially with twins and a busy work schedule. In my biohacking garage, I have a full body red light, sauna, cold plunge, and PEMF mats. I also engage in Pilates and functional patterns for structure and alignment. My approach to wellness is flexible; I stack different practices to fit them into my day. For instance, I might use my red light face mask during calls or sit on my PEMF mat while working. It's about using the tools I need in the moment.
My favorite part is combining different technologies. You can use the red light face mask while in the sauna blanket, for example. We're also introducing dose meditations and mindfulness practices. It's not about adhering rigidly to a 20-minute routine twice a day. Even brief moments of breathwork or meditation can be impactful. It's about having a variety of tools at your disposal and integrating them naturally into your life. This approach offers a healthier alternative to winding down with alcohol, for instance. It's about finding natural, sustainable ways to feel good.
What's the future direction for HigherDOSE?
Our immediate focus is on strengthening our team and refining our retail strategy, particularly internationally. Given the uncertain global economic climate, we're concentrating on sustaining our current momentum and nurturing our existing offerings, rather than pursuing aggressive expansion. Our aim is to continue providing products that contribute to internal well-being while adapting to the evolving market conditions.
