Treatwell Launches a New Campaign to Help You Relax: The Mindful Mani

We’ve all experienced the awkward manicure. You know, the one where you sit down and feel obliged to make polite conversation. Unfortunately, the small talk can quickly become tiresome and transform the whole experience into a chore. Don’t get me wrong, the odd salon conversation can be interesting and every now and then you learn a thing or two. However, despite these occasions, there are times where you just want some ‘me-time’, to relax and do your own thing.

The good thing is, you’re not alone. Treatwell recently reported that 63% of us feel obliged to make conversation during our nail appointments. Additionally, 89% feel too guilty to put their headphones on during a manicure. Based on these statistics, it’s no surprise that only a minority of individuals use their manicure as an opportunity to switch off. So, what can we do to change this?

Luckily, Treatwell recently collaborated with psychologist Suzy Reading (a leading self-care psychologist and health coach) to launch their new Mindful Mani campaign. As part of this campaign, Treatwell has partnered with over 100 nail salons nationwide, to promote the use of salon treatments as a time to relax and switch-off. Treatwell has even encouraged customers use their headphones during their manicures, by offering a range of playlists and podcasts. So, say goodbye to feeling awkward and guilty, use the time to focus on yourself!

This campaign was launched with the aim to introduce more opportunities for mindfulness into our everyday lives. Mindfulness simply means having a greater awareness of ourselves and the world around us. We can greatly improve our mental health and wellbeing by practicing it frequently. The Mindful Mani campaign perfectly demonstrates that we do not have to allocate huge chunks of our time to reach this goal. Instead, we can nurture our wellbeing by making small changes to our daily lives. Although small, these changes can have an enormous effect on our thoughts and emotions. So, pop those headphones on, sit back… and relax.
