Maria Nila becomes B Corp Certified

Swedish professional haircare brand Maria Nila has proudly announced its official B Corp certification, a major milestone that underscores the brand's long-standing commitment to sustainable beauty.

“We are proud to announce this significant milestone that is proof of all the hard work our organization puts into our journey towards leading sustainable beauty. Our initiatives for wildlife, nature, and humanity have always been a part of the brand identity and becoming a B Corp certified company has been our vision for many years,” said Marcus Wikström, CEO and chairman of Maria Nila.

As part of its sustainability efforts, Maria Nila has partnered with Plan Vivo to offset its annual CO2 emissions. Since 2016, the brand has contributed to the planting of over 280,000 m² of forest in Nicaragua. Through its wildlife charity program, run in collaboration with The Perfect World Foundation, Maria Nila has raised more than £490,000 to support endangered species like sea turtles, rhinos, and whales.

In addition to global environmental initiatives, the brand also actively supports local communities in New York, Stockholm, and Helsingborg. In 2023 alone, Maria Nila donated hygiene products valued at over £1,340,000 to organizations such as Amenity Aid and Giving the Basics.

Achieving a B Corp score of 114.3 out of 200, Maria Nila’s certification reflects the company’s comprehensive efforts in social and ecological sustainability. This certification was awarded following a thorough 360-degree review of the brand's initiatives, enabling Maria Nila to measure and improve its sustainability performance more transparently.

"Combined with environmentally innovative production processes focusing on reduced resource consumption and expanded charitable initiatives, we have improved our social and ecological performance," added Tina Malmborg, Sustainability Manager at Maria Nila.
