sk:n Clinics Enters Administration, Putting Hundreds of Jobs at Risk
sk:n Clinics, a leading provider of dermatological and aesthetic treatments in the UK, has entered administration, resulting in the immediate closure of its 70 clinics nationwide and the loss of 800 jobs. Staff were informed about the closure today, and the company's website has been taken down, leaving customers without guidance or support.
Founded in 1990 in Harrogate, sk:n Clinics initially specialized in port wine stain birthmark removal before expanding into a wide range of dermatological services. The company, owned by private equity firm TriSpan since 2019, had grown significantly, boasting 95 points of sale and several acquisitions, including Adonia Medical Group and The Harley Medical Group. Despite efforts by Alvarez & Marsal to save the business, these attempts proved unsuccessful.
The abrupt shutdown has left both employees and customers in a state of uncertainty. Many customers, who had prepaid for treatments, are now seeking refunds with no clear communication from the company. The situation has also impacted sk:n Clinics’ partnerships with the NHS, where they had provided dermatological treatments for many years.
This closure is a significant blow to the UK's aesthetic and dermatology sector, raising concerns about the financial stability of other similar businesses in the market.
