Treatwell Launches #TreatYourSalonWell Campaign
Treatwell is calling time on no-shows with the launch of its new #TreatYourSalonWell campaign, tackling one of the most pressing challenges in the UK hair and beauty industry. As salons across the country face soaring financial pressure, missed appointments are contributing to a staggering £1.6 billion in lost revenue each year.
This week, over 400 hairdressers and salon owners rallied in Westminster as part of the Save Our Salons campaign, demanding VAT cuts to prevent job losses and closures. But while tax reform remains a critical issue, Treatwell’s latest data reveals that no-shows are quietly wreaking havoc behind the scenes.
Each missed appointment costs salons an average of £39, with losses totalling up to £200K a month. The problem peaks during the summer, with 1 in every 32 sunbed or spray tan bookings going unattended. Liverpool, Glasgow and Birmingham are the hardest hit, with local salons at serious risk of financial collapse.
The #TreatYourSalonWell campaign encourages clients to honour their bookings and show up for their appointments, promoting a culture of respect and reliability in the beauty space. Treatwell also reports that 17% of salons have introduced prepayment policies, which have successfully halved no-show rates.
To spotlight the issue, Treatwell has released a list of the most ghosted beauty treatments in the UK:
Sunbeds and Tanning Booths – 3.14% no-show rate (1 in 32)
Makeup Treatments – 2.75% no-show rate (1 in 36)
Gel Nails – 2.72% no-show rate (1 in 37)
Eyelash Extensions – 2.73% no-show rate (1 in 37)

Facial Waxing – 1.83% no-show rate (1 in 55)

With no-shows set to surge again this summer, Treatwell is urging clients to treat their salons well – because showing up isn’t just polite, it’s vital to keeping local beauty businesses alive.
