The Power of the Hydrafacial at Dr Rasha Clinic
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Dr Rasha Clinic in the heart of Mayfair for a HydraFacial treatment. Being new to both the clinic and the world of HydraFacial, I was as excited as I was keen to see what the results would be. It is needless to say that I was not disappointed.
The clinic itself is owned and operated by Dr Rasha Rakhshani, a highly experienced cosmetic doctor. Offering a wide range of treatments, including wrinkle reduction injections, dermal fillers, laser and radiofrequency treatments, and a range of other non-surgical procedures, the clinic is well known for its commitment to providing a personalized service, with each patient receiving a bespoke treatment plan tailored to their individual needs and goals.
This ethos was reflected in my experience at the clinic, where Rachel - one of the [?] - began my treatment by asking me about my personal skin goals, even going through my skin routine with me to provide insights as to where it could be adapted or improved. She also talked me through the HydraFacial process step by step, answering any questions I had along the way.
For those new to the HydraFacial scene like me, Rachel would have explained to you that a HydraFacial is a non-invasive skin treatment that combines several steps to cleanse, exfoliate, extract impurities, and hydrate the skin. It uses a a patented device to deliver a series of serums to the skin while simultaneously using a gentle vacuum to extract impurities and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. The process is painless and gentle, making it suitable for all skin types.
What’s great about the step-by-step process is that patients are able to customise their experience every step of the way, depending on their skin needs and wants. I wanted to focus on brighteining my skin and getting rid of some pesky blemishes, and Rachel was happy to oblige. The specific steps of the facial may vary slightly depending on the individual needs of the patient, but here’s what we ended up doing:
Step One: Lymphatic Drainage
The first step involved using one of the HydraFacial machine attachments to firm and lift the face by gently massaging the the skin to detoxify the lymphones - think of it like a mechanic gua sha. Very relaxing, I have to say.
Step Two: Cleansing
The next step was cleansing the skin to remove any surface-level impurities. We used HydraFacial’s own Activ-4 with glucosamine to remove dead skin cells and debris from the London pollution.
Step Three: Exfoliation
Cleansing was followed by gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and reveal fresh, healthy skin. An acid peel, in the form of a combination of glycolic and salicylic acid, was applied to the skin to help loosen dirt from the pores, and to provide additional exfoliation.
Step Four: Extraction
Next, a vacuum-like device was used to extract impurities from the skin, such as blackheads and other clogged pores. If you want to be equally shocked as you are satisfied, you can ask to see the debris in the machine after your treatment - it’s not for the faint hearted, but quite satisfying nonetheless. This is also the part that can cause the most discomfort, as the tool is gently suctioning your skin. But I have to say it was very mild and Racel was sure to check that I was comfortable all the way.
Step Five: Booster
After the skin has been thoroughly cleansed and exfoliated, a special serum was applied to the skin to provide some much needed TLC. Here you can customise which serum you use based on your skin needs. The Dr Rasha Clinic offers a wide variety of serums from big names in the cosmesutical world like Dr Nassif, and even J-Lo. I went for a classic brightening serum.
Intermission: LED Mask
Here my skin took a breather from the HydraFacial machine to have a ten minute LED mask treatment. We used the yellow LED light to help with rejuvenating the skin from dark spots, inflammation, and swelling. While we waited for the mask to do its thing, Rachel offered me a delightful hand massage.
Step Six: Hydration
After nearly falling asleep in my chair, the HydraFacial machine made a final appearance to deliver a special hyaluronic acid and peptide serum to my skin to provide some much needed deep hydration and light plumping.
Overall, a HydraFacial treatment took me around 45 minutes, and I was able to go back to my usual activities in under 48 hours with my skin feeling dewy, clean and smooth. I would definitely recommend this treatment for anyone and everyone because of its deeply customisable nature and it’s short down time. And, if you do it anywhere, I would recommend the Dr Rasha Clinic for a wonderfully bespoke and personalised experience.
